A never-reprinted tale from Dell's Four Color Comics: Easter with Mother Goose #140 (1947) closes out our Walt Kelly Easter Festival for this year.

Don Rickles (1926-2017)

While my fellow comics fans remember his "star turn" in Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen...
...many don't realize he did an occasional appearance in genre TV!
Rickles' good friend Don Adams put him in Get Smart as Sid Krimm, an old army pal of Maxwell Smart's who ends up being pulled into the world of spies in the two-parter "Little Black Book".
Bonus: the original art by Jack Kirby and Vince Colletta for page 16 above!
Note how much detail was muddied in the printing process!

Reading Room LOST WORLDS "First Man to Reach the Moon"

In this 1952 tale, Mankind doesn't reach the Moon until 2021!
For the record, most sci-fi stories of the era show a manned Moon landing by 2000!
While we don't know who wrote this never-reprinted story from Standard's sci-fi anthology Lost Worlds #6 (1952), the illustrations are by Art Saaf, a steady contributor to comic books from the beginning of the Golden Age to the end of the Bronze Age (1940-1980).

This sanitized-for-your-protection, Comics Code-modified reprint from Quality's T-Man #31 (1956), which waters down all the kool hard-boiled elements from the original tale!
