Reading Room WEIRD ADVENTURES "Dome of Death"

Reading this blog,  you might think that "sci-fi" just means "space opera" or "futuristic"...
...but it can be set on present-day (meaning when the story was created) Earth, as well!
This never-reprinted tale from the Ziff-Davis one-shot Weird Adventures #10 (1951) reads like a script for an anthology tv show or a b-movie.
It's mostly character interaction and a crime/thriller plot with some easily-done (even for the 1950s) sfx!
Illustrated by John Giunta, whose long career spans both the Golden and Silver Ages with work for literally every company in every genre!
However, Giunta may be best-known to today's audiences as the artist who gave the legendary Frank Frazetta his first job, when he hired the talented teen as a studio assistant!
The writer of this unusual tale is unknown, but could be Giunta himself!

Reading Room WEIRD ADVENTURES "Man Who Lived Backwards!"

What if someone tried to prevent you from reaching tomorrow...
...and the only way you could move forward was to kill him in the past?
Check out this never-reprinted tale from Ziff-Davis' one-shot Weird Adventures #10 (1951) for the answer!

So, even though Paul had a change of heart, and tried to save David, his rival for Peggy died anyway, and Paul ended up with the woman they both loved!
What's the moral?
You can change history, even if you don't intend to?
Being good, even if it may be to your personal detriment, will be rewarded in the end?
Ah, well, I guess there are some things we're not meant to understand...
It may be just as well that both the writer and artist are unknown.

Reading Room WEIRD ADVENTURES "Amazing Prophecies"

Can you guess how many of these predictions from 1951 have come true?
Answer:
NONE!
The unknown writer and artist of this never-reprinted one-pager from Ziff-Davis' Weird Adventures #10 (1951) were hoping for a Jetson-esque future that still hasn't occurred 70 years later!
BTW, despite the numbering, this was the one-and-only issue of the title!

Reading Room: WEIRD ADVENTURES "Seeker from Beyond"

Reading this blog, sometimes you'd think all comic book sci-fi is space opera...
Art by Phil Marini
...but it can also be a combination of dimensional travel, romance, and, yes, just a tiny bit of space opera...
See, just a little space opera..one panel!
Note: on the cover, the alien queen, Zada, is brunette while John's girlfriend Jane is blonde.
But in the story, Zada is blonde and Jane is brunette!
Both the writer and artist of the cover-featured tale from Ziff-Davis' Weird Adventures #10 (1951) are unknown!
Cover artist Phil Marini did numerous pulp and paperback covers in every genre from Western to sci-fi to romance, but this is his only comic book work.
