Monday Madness FORBIDDEN WORLDS "Vampire Cat!"

It's Halloween, boyfiends and ghoulfriends...
...and you're invited to an absolutely killer Halloween costume party in this tale from ACG's Forbidden Worlds #15 (1953)!
So, why is it so "horrible" to be trapped in a harmless kitty?
We'll never know the answer!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

CoronaVirusComics FORBIDDEN WORLDS "Alien Germs"

By the late 1950s, we were so confident in advances in medicine...
...that the only way we'd face a catastrophic pandemic was if it was of alien (that's extraterrestrial, not illegal) origin!
Wow!
Is there nothing science (with assistance from alien tech) can't solve?
According to this story from ACG's Forbidden Worlds #71 (1958) by writer/editor Richard Hughes and artist John Rosenberger the answer was clearly "NO"!
Interestingly, when the story was reprinted in ACG's Adventures into the Unknown #166 (1966), only two things were altered...both on the title page...
See the diifferences?
The title has been altered and the extremely-optimistic opening blurb about mankind's almost-miraculous medical acumen was deleted!
Was it simply because, in the mid-1960s, we were no longer totally-trusting about our government and other authority figures?
Or was it...dare I say it...a conspiracy?

Reading Room FORBIDDEN WORLDS "Madman--or Psychic?'

Our final (we swear) Abraham Lincoln-themed story...
...is this never-reprinted piece from ACG's Forbidden Worlds #90 (1960), probably written by editor Richard Hughes and definitely illustrated by George Klein.
OK, I got a bit carried away with this theme, but I didn't even touch the stories where superheroes (Kal-El tried it twice, both as Superman and Superboy) try to go back in time to avert the assassination...

Reading Room: FORBIDDEN WORLDS "Mysteries of the Unknown: Interplanetary Episode"

Here's a tale filled with irony...
...about a special man who held the fate of the world in his hands.
Note: there are some "politically-incorrect" references to mental illness, so it might be NSFW.
Appearing in ACG's Forbidden Worlds #86 (1960), this Richard Hughes-scripted and Ken Landau-illustrated tale was an oddly-modified re-presentation of a story originally-published in a pre-Comics Code issue of Adventures into the Unknown!
For one thing, most of the artwork changes restore the original Ken Landau artwork that was modified by Ogden Whitney in the AitU tale!
(The exception is the splash page which is changed from the original version (which had Landau's signature.)
Plus, an entire plot point, involving the dead dog, which was redrawn in the original story into a "mistaken identity" plotline by Whitney, is restored!
Check out our "brother" blog, Seduction of the Innocent™, tomorrow (Wednesday) for the first version of this tale that the Comics Code disapproved of!
