LOST: the Series Finale...

Well, I was fine with it for the first 2 1/4 hours...
Didn't they say it wasn't Purgatory?
Apparently, they're saying the Island itself (and it's timeline including flashbacks and flashforwards) wasn't Purgatory, just the "flash-sideways" alternate universe!

But that, in and of itself, opens up a number of questions...
The only "real" people in the flash-sideways universe were the ones assembled in the church?
Why was Claire's child, Aaron, still a baby? He was shown as 3-4 before Kate turned him over to his maternal grandmother in the "real world". Did the grandmother kill him? (We didn't see Sun & Jin's child, Ji Yeon, indicating she was still alive.)
Where was the now-mortal Richard Alpert?
Who replaced Hurley as the Protector of the Island? (Ben Linus would've been the obvious choice)
Why did everyone look the same age as their last appearences together on the Island in the main timeline? Since some died after (perhaps long after) Jack died, wouldn't they look like they would at the time of their passing?

The upcoming 6th Season DVD set will have an additional 20 minutes cut from the series finale that'll, hopefully, explain more...

Not since the end of the "reimagined" BattleStar Galactica have I been so disappointed...came to love the series (big fan of the original), hated the ending!

My head hurts...

Oceanic Airlines In-Flight Magazine for Kids from 1954!

An old friend of mine wanted to enter a contest for LOST-related designs at a PoD we both use and asked me for a copy of my digital file for Mystery Tales #40 plus a couple of fonts from my extensive collection, saying she was going to do "the ultimate in-joke".

The Oceanic Airlines In-Flight Magazine for Kids is the result!
Using the cover of the comic young John Locke didn't choose in the ep "Cabin Fever", she created a new, retro-style logo, dated it as September, 1954, exactly 50 years before the Flight 815 crash (in September, 2004), and replaced the existing captions with new, LOST storyline-based text!

I pointed out a couple of anachronisms / inaccuracies...
1) The actual comic was from 1956, two years later!
2) According to several websites, Oceanic Airlines didn't start operating until the mid-1970s (though I'm not sure if that's "canon" or not.)
She responded...
1) The Oceanic Airlines Mag usage was the art's "first use".
It was "reused" as the cover of Mystery Tales #40 (which may also explain why the art doesn't really match the comics story it's supposed to represent)!
2) Oceanic Airlines had actually been founded shortly after World War II, gone bankrupt in the early 1970s, then another company bought the assets and re-established the airline in the mid-70s!
Since there's nothing to contradict those ideas, I had to concede them as viable plot points...

Anyway, the end result is KOOL, so take a look, and maybe buy an item! (She's disabled and can use the cash.)

Fantastic Femmes--Jasika Nicole

Note: this page has been updated with NEW info
HERE!
I'm hooked on JJ Abrams' Fringe!
One of the best-written and acted shows of the past decade.
John Noble as Walter Bishop is an absolute delight to watch in action. Never a dull moment with that guy!
And the season finale with the alternate universe...WOW!
(JJ does have a thing for alternate realities. Think he's gonna tie in Star Trek and LOST into this potential multiverse?)
But there's a mystery even more elusive than ZFT!
Why doesn't Agent Astrid Farnsworth get MORE screen time?
Jasika Nicole is an extremely-talented actress who can easily hold her own on-screen with Noble, Joshua Jackson, or Anna Torv!
C'mon Abrams, give her some time outside the lab!
At least let her shoot somebody! :-)

Fantastic Femmes--Charlotte Lewis

Note: this page has been updated with NEW info
HERE!
One of the hotter Fantastic Femmes of the 1980s, Charlotte made her debut while still a teenager as the only reason to see the truly-awful film Pirates!
Interestingly, almost all her film / tv work has been genre! (out of 27 projects, over 20 were genre!)
She hasn't appeared onscreen since 2003.
Trivia: Dated Mickey Rourke, Eric Clapton, and Charlie Sheen while appearing in movie or video projects with them!

Fantastic Femmes--Michelle Rodriguez

Note: this page has been updated with NEW info HERE!
"Mercurial" doesn't begin to describe this talented, though sometimes undisciplined actress.
Known to the public as much for her off-camera escapades as for her acting, she tends to dominate the screen, even in secondary roles (IMHO).
Genre appearances include...
Tropico de Sangre (Minerva Mirabal)
Avatar (Trudy Chacon)
LOST (Ana-Lucia Cortez)
A Cat's Tale (Jujube)
The Breed (Nikki)
BloodRayne (Katarin)
Resident Evil (Rain Ocampo)
The Fast and the Furious / Fast & Furious [FandF 4] (Letty Marciano)
True Crime: Streets of LA [Video Game] (Rosie Velasco)
Halo 2 [Video Game] (Marine)

Patrick McGoohan--the Prisoner has escaped...

This entry's title is not meant to be snarky.
Since the theme of The Prisoner was that we (and society) are our own jailers ("Who is Number One?" "You are, Number Six!"), with his passing, McGoohan is finally "free", in a way none of us can can ever be truly free in life!
A noted actor and raconteur, McGoohan's greatest success was in three heroic tv series roles:
The Scarecrow in The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh aka Dr. Syn: alias The Scarecrow
John Drake in Danger Man aka Secret Agent
Number Six in The Prisoner (which he conceived and co-created, as well as writing & directing a number of episodes.)
Consider that without his artistic influence, we wouldn't have shows like ABC's LOST, AMC's The Prisoner remake series, or, to a lesser extent, any of the shows like The X-Files or Fringe where you aren't certain who is who and who's running things...
(Personally, I always thought "The Village" was on the other side of the island's mountains on LOST!)
Be seeing you...
(Below: the opening page of the never-published comic adaptation by Jack [King] Kirby.)

Have a LOST Season Premiere Party on January 21st!

Mysteries aplenty await you on January 21st, as you gather around the tv to watch the season opener of ABC's LOST!
Among them...
Where (or when) is the island?
How was it moved in time or space (or both)?
Why must the Oceanic Six return?

And isn't it interesting that the new season group portrait has them (including survivors who hadn't escaped the island) in a ruined building in an overgrown, apparently abandoned, city?

If you're like us, you're gonna gather together to watch the show.
And, like us, you're gonna make it a theme party!

It's my belief that the comic holds the answer to Locke's task (Move the island).

LOST Mystery Tales #40: He's on an AIRPLANE!

From the cover of the Mystery Tales #40 comic book John Locke didn't choose: a close-up of the item in a fabric pocket on the wall just below the window between his fingers and the round green caption!
Even though the coloring makes it look like a label, it's actually a booklet or brochure with **** Airlines written on it!

LOST Mystery Tales comic now on USB flash drives!

In a flashback on the LOST tv series ep "Cabin Fever", young John Locke had to choose items that "already belonged to him".
One of the items he didn't select was the comic book Mystery Tales.
But, what if the comic cover was available on something a little more practical...like a USB flash drive? Would he have chosen it then? Would you? ;-)
Choose from 1GB, 2GB, or 4GB
Or, how about a money/cigarette case, a business card case, or flip-top zippo-style lighter? (Talk about practical, and stylish, too!)
