Monday Madness FLYING SAUCERS "Far Out Physical"

To wind up this month of flying saucer fun...
...here's a long-unseen tale with a decidedly-different approach to the aliens!
You'll note that the aliens' world balloons are left blank!
Editor Don (D J) Arneson wrote all the stories in the four-issue run of Dell's Flying Saucers, also making sure the various artists presented a fairly-consistent "look" to the aliens.
(Note: the series ran five issues, but the fifth was a reprint of #1)
In the case of this tale from #1 (1967), Sam Glanzman brought his realistic, natural style to a story using many of the already-established elements of UFO lore.
Trivia: Both Dell and Gold Key produced anthology comics about alien visitors and their kitchenware-shaped vessels during this period.
Gold Key's UFO: Flying Saucers ran for twenty five issues, changing to UFO and Outer Space as of #14!

Reading Room: SPACE ADVENTURES "Lunar Rendezvous"

A 1950s-style script with art that tries to offer a 1960s "psychedelic" feel...
...in this never-reprinted tale from Charlton's Space Adventures V2#6 (1969)
Sam Glanzman was an amazingly-versatile artist, whose work in every genre from sci-fi to war to romance to Westerns was usually exemplary.
Whether this was a rush job...or he was experimenting with a new inking style...or he simply had an off-week, it's just not up to his usual high standards.
BTW, you may notice the indicia says "Vol 1 Number 6", but the book is actually from Vol 2 Number 6!
Charlton's first Space Adventures title ran from 1952-56 (1-21), then 1958-64 (23-59) for a total of 58 issues.
(There wasn't a #22 in either part of the run).
This tale was from a 1968-69 revival of the title that lasted only 7 issues.

Reading Room VOYAGE TO THE DEEP "Disaster Rises" Conclusion

An unnamed enemy has tilted the Earth's axis, creating tsunamis that have already destroyed most of the East Coast south of Washington DC, with the US capital and New York City soon to follow.
The nuclear sub Proteus heads towards the Mariana Trench in an attempt to counteract the threat, but it is attacked by a gigantic sea creature awakened by the catastrophe...
What the hell just happened???
This is, easily, one of the weirdest comics ever published.
The never-reprinted tale features art by talented, yet extremely-underrated Sam Glanzman (who also did the Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea feature film adaptation), but the scriptwriter is unknown.

Reading Room VOYAGE TO THE DEEP "Disaster Rises" Part 1

...Dell Comics planned to do an ongoing comic series.
However, they lost the license  for reasons unknown and decided to rework the existing material into a new, similar, series...

 The saga continues...
Art for Dell's Voyage to the Bottom of the Deep #1 (1962) is by Sam Glanzman, who also did the Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea movie adaptation, but the scriptwriter is unknown.
There are a lot of similarities in characters and tech between this series and the VttBotS movie.
(The TV series wouldn't debut for another two years...)
But the submarine being able to adapt its' shape as needed was something 1960s special effects couldn't handle so it was considered a defining characteristic to avoid questions of copyright infringement.
They also eliminated the big bay "windows" in the nose of the sub, moving them to the conning tower, just to be safe...
