Gorgeous Goodies for Your Easter Basket!

Back in the 1940s and '50s, comic book companies produced a prodigious number of holiday-themed annuals and one-shots!
For example, a multitude of Christmas-themed comic books flooded America's magazine racks every November and December!
(In fact, a large part of our popular Cool Christmas collection is based on them.)
But, did you know that several publishers also did Easter-oriented books?
And, that noted comics illustrators including Walt (Pogo) Kelly contributed art to them?
Believing that there's always room for more classic comics collectibles, we at Atomic Kommie Comics™ added a new line of goodies to our Happy Holidays section entitled Exciting Easter!
Yes, it's eggs, bunnies, chicks, and other fuzzy animals galore digitally-restored and remastered from Baby Boomer-era classic comics covers on baby bibs, infant creepers / onesies, toddler and kid t-shirts, greeting cards, mugs, and a plethora of other kool kollectibles!
They make great Easter basket stuffers! (And they won't rot your kids' teeth like marshmallow chicks or chocolate bunnies!)

Fill Your Easter Basket with JOY!

Back in the 1940s and 50s, comic book companies produced a prodigious number of holiday annuals and one-shots.

For example, a multitude of Christmas-themed comic books flooded America's magazine racks every November and December!
(In fact, a large part of our popular Cool Christmas collection is based on them.)
But, did you know that several publishers also did Easter-oriented books?
And, that noted comics illustrators including Walt Kelly (Pogo) and Harrison Cady (Peter Rabbit) contributed art to them?
Believing that there's always room for more classic comics collectibles, we at Atomic Kommie Comics™ offer a line of goodies entitled Exciting Easter!
Yes, it's eggs, bunnies, chicks, and other fuzzy animals galore digitally-restored and remastered from Baby Boomer-era classic comics covers on baby bibs, infant creepers / onesies, toddler and kid t-shirts, greeting cards, mugs, nursery clocks (like the one above) and a plethora of kool kollectibles!
They make great Easter basket stuffers! (And they won't rot your kids' teeth like marshmallow chicks or chocolate bunnies!)

Friday Fun FUNNY TUNES "Space Mouse in 'Mister Fix-It' " and "Peter Rabbit in 'Parking Space!' "

Let's get back to non-disease-oriented humor...
...with a decidedly Earth-bound Space Mouse one-pager...
...and an oddly space-bound Peter Rabbit short!
I'd say somebody gave the artist for these pieces from Avon's Funny Tunes #1 (1953) the wrong scripts...except the writer and artist are the same person...Frank Carin!

Friday Fun SPACE MOUSE "Land of the Giants!"

While the similarly-named 1960s-70s tv series had some "juvenile" (to put it politely) stories...
...they didn't even come close to being this silly!
So, the heroic Space Mouse just wanted to go somewhere and "make out" with his girlfriend?
Creator/writer/artist Frank Carin might want to reconsider the example this tale from Avon's Peter Rabbit #30 (1955-56) set for impressionable young children of the 1950s!

Friday Fun SPACE MOUSE & PETER RABBIT "Cold Reception"

Occasionally, Space Mouse would team up with Peter Rabbit...
...as seen in this never-reprinted summer-oriented story from Avon's Peter Rabbit #18 (1953)!
Since writer-artist Frank Carin did both strips, and the Mouse and Rabbit appeared in backups in each other's books, it seemed only appropriate they occasionally visit each other's strips!
BTW, I apologize for the poor color registration on the pages, but this was the only scan available, and, as I pointed out, this story has never been reprinted, so there was no better source material to work from!

Reading Room PETER RABBIT "Trouble on the Moon!"

We wanted to present a Moon-themed Space Mouse story in tribute to the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11...
but all we could find was this strip also by Space Mouse's writer/artist Frank Carin!
This never-reprinted tale from Avon's Peter Rabbit #30 (1955-6) was...scheduled for last Friday's post, but we felt a serious story would be more appropriate the day before the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing!
