Reading Room LOST WORLDS "Visitors from Space" and "Space Platforms--Way Stations of the Future!"

Besides comic stories, comic books often ran one-page features like these...
Standard's Lost Worlds #5 Art by Ross Andru & Mike Esposito
...based on historical or scientific information available at the time...
Standards' Lost Worlds #6 Art by Rocco Mastroserio
...or speculation about future developments, again, based on then-current knowledge!
(I love that third panel, showing spacesuit-garbed scientists on a balcony on the satellite!)

Space Hero Saturdays SPACE ACTION "Invaders From a Lost Galaxy"

A "Lost Galaxy"?
Not The "Lost Galaxy"?
How many "Lost Galaxies" are out there?
And, is this one really lost, or just misplaced? ;-)

While the writer is unknown, the art for this Flash Gordon-inspired tale from Ace's Space Action #1 (1952) breaks down as pencils by Lou Cameron, inks by Rocco Mastroserio!

Reading Room SPACE ACTION "Prisoners on Solar"

Solar power is cheap and easy to access, right?
At least until someone takes control of the Sun (or a reasonable facsimile thereof)!
Considering that, even in the 1950s, we knew the Sun wouldn't die out for billions of years, you have to wonder when this story from Ace's Space Action #1 (1952) is set!
Apparently the unknown writer didn't know or didn't care, since no date is given.
But the art by Lou Cameron and Rocco Mastroserio shows technology only a couple of hundred of years ahead!
Go figure...

Reading Room: SPACE ACTION "War Fleet of the Traitor EarthMen"

If you think you can't trust politicians now...
...let's look at the future (as seen from the 1950s), when they'll betray the whole planet!
Penciled by Lou Cameron and inked by Rocco Mastroserio, this tale from Ace's Space Action #1 (1952), was typical of pulp and comic sci-fi of the era.
The writer is, mercifully, unknown.

Reading Room SPACE ACTION "Double Menace on Jupiter's Moon"

Strap on your rocket-packs, space cadets...
...because we're about to blast off to the future...as seen in the 1950s!
Penciled by Lou Cameron and inked by Rocco Mastroserio, this tale from Ace's Space Action #1 (1952), was typical of pulp and comic sci-fi of the era with it's flagrant disregard for science, not to mention simple logic.
The writer is, mercifully, unknown.

Reading Room: BRANT CRAIG "Hot Money Space Mob"

Counterfeiting will always be a problem, even in the 30th Century...
...as we see in this never-reprinted tale from the final issue of Youthful's Captain Science!
This "hard-boiled private-eye in space" story from Youthful's Captain Science #7 (1951) was probably illustrated by Bill Molno and Rocco Mastroserio.
The writer is unknown.

Reading Room: BRANT CRAIG "Red Devils of Mars"

In the 1950s "Red" usually meant Communists...
...or a Communist-like threat, even in stories set in the future!
Add how the "Red" Martians set up an impenetrable "ionic curtain" (instead of Iron Curtain),  and the parallels are obvious to anyone.
This never-reprinted tale from Youthful's Captain Science #6 (1951) was probably illustrated by Bill Molno and Rocco Mastroserio.
The writer is unknown.
