Friday Fun RIOT "Boy Meets Girl"

This never-reprinted tale from Atlas' RIOT #5 (1956) was so odd, I couldn't resist running it!
Note: John Wayne and Marilyn Monroe never appeared together in a movie!
And, if you don't know who they are...GOOGLE THEM!!!
Notes: Neither John Wayne nor Marilyn Monroe ever did a sci-fi/fantasy film!
(No, John Wayne playing Genghis Khan in The Conquerer doesn't count!)
The "movie titles" combine parts of real movie titles from those genres!
Written by Stan Lee and illustrated by John Severin.

Reading Room STAR☀︎REACH CLASSICS "Origin of God!"

The writer-artist who created Thanos and re-defined "cosmic" presents...
...a simple, but effective visualization by Jim Starlin as shown in Eclipse's Star*Reach Classics #1 (1984).
The observant among you noted the copyright next to the title reads "1974", not "1984"!
That's because this one-pager first appeared in Star*Reach #4 (1974)...but it was in black and white!
I thought, for on-line re-presentation, the color version would be more effective!

Wednesday Worlds of Wonder ADVENTURES OF THE DOVER BOYS Chapter 4 "Molten Death"

Now that you've been updated, read on...with one caveat:
May be NSFW due to politically-incorrect stereotypes common to the period (1950).
Super Duck was a duck, but was not "super"...at this point (1950).
He did start out in 1943 as an anthropromorphic superhero in red and blue, but lost both the costume and powers within six issues, becoming Archie's answer to those other ducks, Donald and Daffy.
It obviously worked since he kept going until 1960, and has been reprinted occasionally since then.
Be here
NEXT WEDNESDAY
when we will continue our re-presentation of this never-reprinted story and you'll see "the most thrilling scenes you have ever witnessed!"
(Hey, they said it above!)

Holiday Reading Room EVERY DAY'S A HOLLY DAY "Thrilling Story Behind Old Glory: Flag Day"

In a patriotic fever while waiting for the 4th of July?
Learn About...
...and try to forget it's also (ironically) the 76th birthday of disgraced, twice-impeached, ex-President Don (the Con) Trump!
Coloring goof: the Union soldiers in panel 5 are wearing Confederate gray!
Why is this 1955 comic entitled "Every Day's a Holly Day" instead of "Every Day's a Holiday"?
Because it was given away to kids by grocers who sold Holly Sugar!
Illustrated by John Rosenberger, it's a unique pamphlet covering a number of American holidays, including both Lincoln and Washington's Birthdays (before they were combined into "Presidents' Day" in 1962), Mothers' Day (though not Fathers' Day), Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and a couple of holidays we've largely abandoned...Pan-American Day and American Indian Day!
Note: We're gearing up for our traditional multi-blog Summer Blogathons which we'll announce the week before the 4th of July weekend and begin the week after!
