Friday Fun MONSTERS UNLIMITED "Best of #5"

It seems Stan Lee had an almost unlimited amount of bad jokes...
...as exemplified by the examples seen here!
Remember week when we presented this page...
...we forgot to include the pic for the new contest!
Well, here it is!
...and here's the winning entry for the contest!
(BTW, there's a topical reference most of the current readers wouldn't get!
The recently-cancelled tv series Car 54, Where are You? starred Fred Gwynne...
...who, at the time of this magazine's publication was the lead in the new series, The Munsters...
...playing Herman Munster, whose appearance was based on the Universal Studios version of the Frankenstein Monster!
See you next Friday, boys and ghouls!

Wednesday Worlds of Wonder WALKING DEAD "Dead Vignette: Dead on Film"

Before Walking Dead: the TV series and comic books...
...there was Walking Dead: the original comic book and the (fictional) movie!
BTW, it's Not Safe for Work/School!
And thus concludes our re-presentation of the never-reprinted Aircel's Walking Dead #3 (1989)!
Created by writer/artist Jim Somerville and published by Malibu/Aircel in 1989, it was vastly-different from the 2003-present graphic novel series created by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore.
For collectors, there's good news and bad news...
Good news: There's only a four-issue mini series and a one-shot Special to collect!
Bad news: Because it didn't sell well (and has never been reprinted), it's HTF (hard to find) and expensive!
Next Wednesday...
...we return to deep space in the far future with the never-reprinted
Seeker  3000!

Reading Room BLACK CAT MYSTERY "Halloween Nightmare"

Here's a re-presentation of a topical terror tale about Halloween from Harvey's Black Cat Mystery #34 (1952).
Penciled by Manny Stallman and inked by John Giunta.
The writer is unknown.
Unlike many other Harvey Comics horror stories (as shown HERE), when this one was reprinted in Black Cat #52 (two years later), nothing was altered!
Happy Halloween!

Monday Madness ARRGH! "Fangs for the Memory!"

We ran out of Spanish Dracula one-pagers...
...so we're presenting this never-reprinted comic (in more ways than one) tale of urban vampire terror from Marvel's ARRRGH! #1 (1973)!
Let's see what lurks under this kool Marie Severin/Tom Sutton cover...
Written by Russ Jones (as "Jack Younger"), penciled by Mike Sekowsky (some of his last comic book work before going into TV/movie animation full-time), and inked by Tom Sutton (who usually inked his own work), this was an attempt to do a new MAD-style four color comic due to the early 1970s loosening of editorial restrictions by the Comics Code Authority!
Sadly, the book only lasted five issues...
