Frankenstein Reading Room: WEIRD "Frankenstein: the Monster's Story"

Here's a one-off tale taking elements of several of the Monster's many incarnations...
...and combining them into a fascinating tale!
Written by the magazine's associate editor Roger Elwood and illustrated by it's editor/art director Carl Burgos (who created comics' first android hero, Timely's Golden Age Human Torch), this story from Eerie Publications' Weird V1N10 (1965) is one of the few stories (after Mary Shelly's original) that doesn't leave the door open for a sequel!
Trivia: despite the numbering, this is the first issue of the magazine!

Reading Room CAPTAIN JOHNER AND THE ALIENS "Danger from Beyond"

We Have Already Seen...
...and things suddenly look and sound...different!
Creator/writer/artist Russ Manning is gone from both this strip and Magnus as of this issue, Gold Key's Magnus, Robot Fighter #23 (1968)!
The change in style and tone is jarring, though long-time penciler Paul Norris and (especially) inker Mike Royer try to maintain the detailed, slick look Manning brought to the strip!
The new writer is unknown, but whoever it is, he seemed to have trouble following the concepts Manning was presenting!
So, pending a massive outcry from a disappointed audience, this will be our final entry to the saga of Captain Johner and the Aliens...

HAUNTED HALLOWEEN (Both G & PG-13)

October is here, the leaves are turning orange and brown, and already our somewhat- warped thoughts naturally turn to...HALLOWEEN, the koolest holiday of all!
We at Atomic Kommie Comics™ have told you about our Horror Comics of the 1950s™ and Seduction of the Innocent™ sections, PLUS the Martians, Martians, Martians™ category of The Future WAS Fantastic™, all of which have kool retro horror-oriented goodies year-round for the older kids-at-heart.
But what about something for the younger crowd, the tweens and pre-teens, the toddlers and babies?
Well, never let it be said we ignored a target demographic!
We have a Haunted Halloween section with a subsection specifically-for those little ones who want a slightly-scary take on the spectral and spooky, as well as one for the 7-13 category who want a bit more meat on the bone (as it were).
We're also offering Yard Signs &Banners, plus; invitation and greeting cards, ghostly garb, and ghoulish goodies like monstrous mini-buttons (great as treats instead of tooth-rotting candy), reusable trick or treat bags, and other creepy collectibles.
Note to the older crowd, sorry, but the shirts 'n stuff are kid-sized only.
Have a look and order now, if you want your treats!
Wait too long and you'll be tricked!

TREK AGAINST TRUMP

Star Trek has always offered a positive vision of the future, a vision of hope and optimism, and most importantly, a vision of inclusion, where people of all races are accorded equal respect and dignity, where individual beliefs and lifestyles are respected so long as they pose no threat to others.
We cannot turn our backs on what is happening in the upcoming election.
Never has there been a presidential candidate who stands in such complete opposition to the ideals of the Star Trek universe as Donald Trump...more HERE.
