October
is here, the leaves are turning orange and brown,
and already our somewhat- warped thoughts naturally turn to...HALLOWEEN,
the koolest holiday of all!
We at Atomic Kommie Comics™ have told you about our Horror Comics of the 1950s™ and Seduction of the Innocent™ sections, PLUS the Martians, Martians, Martians™ category of The Future WAS Fantastic™, all of which have kool retro horror-oriented goodies year-round for the older kids-at-heart.
But what about something for the younger crowd, the tweens and pre-teens, the toddlers and babies?
Well, never let it be said we ignored a target demographic!
We have a Haunted Halloween
section with a subsection specifically-for those little ones who want a
slightly-scary take on the spectral and spooky, as well as one for the
7-13 category who want a bit more meat on the bone (as it were).
We're also offering Yard Signs &Banners, plus; invitation and greeting cards, ghostly garb, and ghoulish goodies
like monstrous mini-buttons (great as treats instead of tooth-rotting
candy), reusable trick or treat bags, and other creepy collectibles.
Note to the older crowd, sorry, but the shirts 'n stuff are kid-sized only.
Have a look and order now, if you want your treats!
Wait too long and you'll be tricked!

TREK AGAINST TRUMP
Star Trek has always offered a positive vision of the future, a vision
of hope and optimism, and most importantly, a vision of inclusion, where
people of all races are accorded equal respect and dignity, where
individual beliefs and lifestyles are respected so long as they pose no
threat to others.
We cannot turn our backs on what is happening in the
upcoming election.
Never has there been a presidential candidate who
stands in such complete opposition to the ideals of the Star Trek
universe as Donald Trump...more HERE.

Frankenstein Reading Room: ADVENTURES INTO THE UNKNOWN Spirit of Frankenstein "A Monster is Born"
There have been several ongoing series that combined horror and sci-fi...
...such as the series which premiered with this tale from ACG's Adventures into the Unknown #5 (1949)!
The "monster" here is not Frankenstein's Monster, nor are any of the scientists members of the Frankenstein clan.
Writer
Richard Hughes and artist Charles Sultan invoked the "spirit" of the
Frankenstein Monster concept with a creation run amok and ran amuck with
it for several issues from #5 to #16!
Note: We originally ran this back in 2013, but since we'll be running some more chapters of the series as part of our Frankenstein-themed October posts, we thought it best to re-run this one to bring new readers up to speed!

Reading Room WORLD OF FANTASY "Clock Strikes NEVER!"
Here's another never-reprinted tale...
...from the period when Atlas Comics was transitioning into Marvel Comics!
Penciled and inked by Steve Ditko, this story from Atlas' World of Fantasy #18 (1959) has some intriguing concepts, including the idea that nothing can travel back before its' creation date, which would rule out time travel into the distant past!
But my big question is...who is "Fate"?
He pops up at the beginning of Page 4 and remains lurking in the background for the rest of the story, becoming a second narrator!
Besides looking visually-kool, what's his purpose?
He doesn't interfere...or even warn/advise the protaganist!
Since the story's narrator refers to Fate in the third person, we know the blue guy is not the one hosting the tale!
In addition, Fate never shows up in any other Atlas/Marvel story!
Like the identity of the story's writer, it's a mystery that'll never be solved...
