Trump Reading Room TALES CALCULATED TO DRIVE YOU BATS "Monster Crisis"

It's fascinating how this story from 1962 can relate to present-day America...
...as the Idiot in the White House creates similar economic problems in real-life!
George Gladir wrote and Orlando Busino illustrated this tale from Archie's Tales Calculated to Drive You BATS V1N2 (1962) in an era when excessive tariffs and other such protectionist claptrap had been minimized after learning the hard way they didn't work!
Unfortunately, it seems we're destined to learn that lesson again...the hard way!

Trump Reading Room UNITED STATES MARINES "The Secret of Korea"

What influenced Don the John's concept of Korea?
Perhaps this 1952 NSFW (due to racist stereotypes) comic story...
...remember Don the John boasts of his intellectual development stopping at age 9!
Since Don the Con has never been much on reading, odds are the semi-literate future PotUS learned a lot from comics, as we theorized regarding his obsession with a "Space Force"!
Ironically, this tale from Magazine Enterprises' United States Marines #5 (1952) is a reworked version of an equally-NSFW anti-Japanese propaganda piece that appeared in Magazine Enterprises' United States Marines #3 (1943)...
The more things change, the more they stay the same, eh?
BTW, while I'm pleased Don the John apparently secured the release of American citizens held by North Korea, did any one else think it odd that two of the three freed American citizens needed a translator to understand and respond to Don the John?

Trump Reading Room EVERY DAY IS A HOLLY DAY "Pan-American Day"

Here's a holiday I'm sure Don (the John) Trump is glad we've abandoned!
The idea of us actually working with those South of the Border is anthema to such as Don the John.
Don the John followed it with a less-than-enthuisastic proclamation in 2017, making the usual bellicose veiled threats against the other American countries.
I suggest you read both links, then compare and contrast the attitudes presented by both Presidential proclamations!
Why is this comic entitled "Every Day is a Holly Day" instead of "Every Day is a Holiday"?
Because it was given away to kids by grocers who sold Holly Sugar!
Illustrated by John Rosenberger, it's a unique pamphlet covering a number of American holidays, including both Lincoln and Washington's Birthdays (before they were combined into "Presidents' Day"), Mothers' Day (though not Fathers' Day), Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and a couple of holidays we've largely abandoned...Pan-American Day and American Indian Day!
We'll be presenting the other chapters on the dates they fall upon.
Watch for them!

Trump's Space Force Already Existed! SPACE BUSTERS

...perhaps inspired by these comics about "space marines" from his childhood?
(I doubt he actually read any books, so it's unlikely he was inspired by Heinlein's Starship Troopers!)
Published in 1952, the series ran only two issues, with a couple of unpublished stories appearing in other mags later on.
Conceived by Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel, illustrated by comics legends Bernie Krigstein and Murphy Anderson, with covers by Norman Saunders and Allen (no relation to Murphy) Anderson, the series took the concept of the US Marine Corps and transplanted it to outer space in the near-future.
Though not specificially-stated, the Space Busters were Americans and Western Europeans, with no Communist countries or non-white nations represented.
Starting next Wednesday, we're presenting a complete digitally-remastered re-presentation of this apparently-groundbreaking (and still never reprinted) series at our brother RetroBlog, War: Past, Present & Future!
Don't Miss It!

Trump Reading Room TRUE COMICS "There Are NO Master Races"

Sometimes Don the Con's sheepie have to be reminded of basic biological facts...
...and what better way than with pictures?
Appearing in Parents Magazine Press' True Comics #39 (1944), this short piece took anthropological scientific data (from the brochure shown below) and presented it in an easily-digestible form, which even today's Trumpettes could understand...I hope!

What "America" does Alabama's Roy Moore Want?

Is it this one?
Alabama Congressional candidate Roy Moore wants to return slavery to America (as well as eliminate womens' right to vote), as detailed in an interview he gave in 2011!
During Moore’s appearance, one host said he supported getting rid of every amendment after the Tenth Amendment.
"That would eliminate many problems," Moore said in response to the host on the audio KFile unearthed.
"You know people don't understand how some of these amendments have completely tried to wreck the form of government that our forefathers intended," he continued.
Moore criticized the 17th Amendment, which calls for the direct election of senators by voters rather than state legislatures, and the 14th Amendment, which was passed during the Reconstruction period following the Civil War and guaranteed citizenship and equal rights and protection to former slaves.
Amendments incorporated into the U.S. Constitution after the 10th Amendment expand civil rights protections granted by the Bill of Rights.
They include the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery, the 15th Amendment, which prohibited the federal and state governments from denying citizens the right to vote based on that person's race, and the 19th Amendment, which extended suffrage to women.
Click HERE to see the America Roy Moore and President Don (the Con) Trump (who recorded a robocall for the Alabaman and backs the racist/sexist) apparently want to restore!

Trump Reading Room aka the OutHouse HILLBILLY COMICS "Saturday Night at Shootin' Creek"

What do Deplorables do on weekends?
...perhaps what this never-reprinted tale from Charlton's Hillbilly Comics #4 (1956) extrapolates!
Illustrated, and probably written by Art Gates, this text story about the MacSleezys (whom we've presented HERE, and HERE) is typical hillbilly humor, playing up their illiteracy and violent tendencies...aspects the Deplorables take pride in!

Trump Reading Room STRANGE TALES "When a Planet Dies!"

Perhaps he thinks omnipotent aliens, like these guys frim Atlas' Strange Tales #97 (196x) cause climate change...
While the art is credited to Jack Kirby and Dick Ayers, who wrote the tale is not entirely clear.
A number of people, myself included, think it's scripted by Kirby himself.
(BTW, if you think I was looking for an excuse to re-run one of my favorite Kirby Klassics...you'd be right!)
When the story was reprinted in Marvel's Weird Wonder Tales #22 (1973), the splash page was reworked...
...combining the cover from a previous issue of Weird Wonder Tales that supplied the Dr Druid figure...
Art by Jack Kirby, John Romita (Dr Druid's face) and Joe Sinnott
 ...and the original splash page!
The production artist "flipped" a stat of the Dr Druid figure and fit it where the bearded aliens are on the original.
To paraphrase "the World's Most Interesting Man", stay cool, my friends!
