Provocative, but PG-13 rated. Sports Illustrated won't go beyond that. (It ain't Maxim, y'know.)
ReplyDeleteI can remember when this was first published. It was right before the 1972 Munich Olympics where she was expected to win all the gold medals. This caused a lot of controversy and led to her not winning any medals (Olga Korbut got the medals and the publicity). Cathy survived and moved on with her life. I got the magazine as part of an annual gift subscription-I didn't have the magazine confiscated (likewise, the swimsuit issues). There was some shock at seeing a nude photo in Sports Illustrated but everything seemed to blow over and life went on for everybody.
