Holiday Reading Room SANTA CLAUS PARADE "Crystal the Snowflake"

Kris Kringle is considering getting out of the Yuletide business!
But if he does, who will take over the business?
Thankfully, the then-modern technology of the 1950s offered a solution as this never-reprinted story from Ziff-Davis' Santa Claus Parade (1951) by an unknown writer and artist(s) or writer-artist(s) demonstrates!

Space Force Saturdays ROCKY JONES: SPACE RANGER "Velocity X"

"Warp drive" didn't begin with Star Trek...
but lightspeed (or faster) travel was a rarity in 1950s' tv science fiction, where rockets dominated the skies!
Of all the 1950s Space Heroes we present here, Rocky Jones seems closest to the most famous tv Space Hero of all--Capt James T Kirk!
While the credits for this story from Charlton's Space Adventures #15 (1955) list Ted Galindo and Vince Alascia as the artists, there's enough difference from the other stories credited to them for me to believe it's actually Alden McWilliams.
Rocky Jones will return in the near future...

Friday Holiday Fun GREMLINS Part 1

Meet Randall "Rand" Peltzer, "inventor"...

...trying to find a unique gift for his son!
But he has no idea how unique it will be!

To Be Continued Sunday at
Written by Roger McKenzie and illustrated by Adrian Gonzales, Golden Book's Gremlins (1984) one-shot comic movie adaptation was a 52-page magazine with very limited distribution in America.
Apparently, it's better-known overseas than here in the USA!

Holiday Reading Room RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER "The Reindeer Who Saved Christmas!"

...that's as concise a synopsis as you'll ever read, so on to the story with all requisite speed...
The copy we're using doesn't have a final page.
So we'll use the original hand-drawn layout!

Written by Robert L May and illustrated by Denver Gillen, this beloved tale was actually an advertising promotion designed to lure customers into doing Christmas shopping!
We hope you've enjoyed this bit of holiday history, and keep checking us out for more Christmastime fun!

Wednesday Worlds of Wonder ATARI FORCE "Galaxian" Part 2

Sent by the Atari Corporation in 2005 to probe the Multiverse to find a habitable planet for mankind to move to after wars and pollution have rendered Earth's biosphere on the verge of collapse, the tired crew of Scanner One are exhausted after months of fruitless exploration.
This particular mission began with them killing (in self-defense) a large worm-like creature whose much-larger parent almost destroyed the ship!
With the crew both physically and emotionally "burned-out", expedition commander Martin Champion has hard decisions to make...
But will the Atarians have to fight for peace?
 To Be Continued
Next Wednesday!
Trivia:
Writers Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway took the backstory from the game and overhauled it, as you can see...
What do you think of their "reconcepting"?
