Here's the "origin" story of a red-headed Bronze Age Archie clone named Harvey published by Marvel...

...in its' final attempt at the teenage humor market!

Written by Stan Lee and illustrated in an extremely-Dan DeCarlo-esque style by Stan Goldberg, this never-reprinted story from Marvel's Harvey #1 (1970) was the final story in the first of only six issues in the title's brief run.

BTW, Harvey Hooper and his crew were a revamp of an earlier Atlas (pre-Marvel) humor title...

...which was an even more blatant Archie clone...and has also never been reprinted, despite scripts by Stan Lee and pretty good art by Hy Rosen!

Written by Denny O'Neil and illustrated by Jack Sparling, this never-reprinted tale from DC's Bomba the Jungle Boy #6 (1968) marked a change in direction initiated by new editor Dick Giordano, who revamped existing books like Aquaman, Bomba, Blackhawk, Teen Titans, Strange Adventures (starring Deadman), Secret Six, Showcase. and Young Love, and added new titles including Beware the Creeper and The Witching Hour.

Tales Twice Told STRANGE JOURNEY "Hole in the Sky!"

At first glance, this looks like a typical 1950s sci-fi comics tale...

...flying saucers, aliens, and a misunderstanding between humans and "invaders".

A rather typical 1950s tale of a "misunderstood mellow alien".

Note: the cover features a uniformed policeman, rather than the plainclothes detective, confronting the alien!
This was the Comics Code-approved version.
For the original, uncensored, horror comics-era story, you'll have to come back on Thursday!

Monday Moon Madness RACE FOR THE MOON "Lunar Trap"

Today's the scheduled launch to the Moon of NASA's Artemis test ship...

But, it won't be like the 1950s, when we thought we'd be fighting with the Soviet Union for control of the Moon!

 

Pencils by Jack Kirby, inks by Al Williamson (who, along with fellow EC alumnus Reed Crandall), was doing a lot of work for Harvey at the time!

Not sure who wrote it, but speculation is that Kirby himself scripted it.

Either way, a decent story with solid storytelling and magnificent rendering!
