Wednesday Worlds of Wonder HUNT BOWMAN OF THE LOST WORLD Part 2

The original Hunt Bowman was an marksman with a bow and a decent shot with a handgun!
The new "astronaut-frozen-in-time" Buck Rogers-wannabe is obviously not the same guy!
To Be Continued
NEXT WEEK!
Since Bowman is from the past, is this guy also from the past...or further into the future?
Or is he a clone, created from Bowman's cells taken before he went into space?
Or is this not only a future Earth, but an alternate universe as well?
Makes you wonder why writer Bruce Jones and artist Ken Hooper even tried to adapt the original Lost World strip!
Except for the character's name, it has nothing in common with the 1940s series!

Reading Room SPACE ADVENTURES "Long Patrol"

Here's a never-reprinted Silver Age tale...
...that has a definite Golden Age "look" and "feel" to it!
Written by Joe Gill, penciled by Charles Nicholas, and inked by Vince Colletta, this story from Charlton's Space Adventures V2N6 (1969) feels like it's been edited down from a longer version.
Things happen almost arbitrarily, like the astronauts' home base knowing they've been mind-controlled by aliens, or the crewmen being deliberately-incapacitated by equipment on board we (and probably they) knew nothing about!
It's an interesting, but unsatisfying, tale...a rarity from Charlton.

Monday Mars Madness WAR COMICS "Greg Gilday and the Martians" Part 2

...wow!
This strip is running at mach speed, adding genres every minute!
Greg Gilday isn't just Superman!
He's Moses, too!
In the Golden Age, creators, unrestrained by preconceptions, tried genre mash-ups we wouldn't dream of doing today, hoping to find a "hook" to grab readers!
Drawn (and probably written) by Richard Fletcher, this never-reprinted series only ran three chapters (this is the second, from Dell's War Comics #3, published in 1940) before disappearing despite the final strip ending with a caption promising more adventures!
Note: the Richard Fletcher who did this strip is not the Dick Fletcher who worked with Chester Gould before taking over as the artist on the Dick Tracy newspaper strip in 1977.
This guy is Richard Martin Fletcher.
The Dick Tracy artist was Richard E Fletcher and didn't begin his art career until after being discharged from the Army in 1945.

What You Are About to Read Actually Happened 20 Years Ago Today...

All text is from the official 9/11 Report ...

...and all dialogue is taken verbatim from verified audio recordings!
Besides detailing the actual events, the adaptation takes what would be incredibly-tedious background text material and livens it up, as these thumbnails on the Table of Contents show...
(You didn't think I was going to present the entire book here, did you?)
Writer/editor Sid Jacobson and writer/artist Ernie Colon are best known for their work together on various Harvey Comics humor strips.
Note that Ernie had demonstrated his serious comics work for DC, Marvel, and Warren, among others on projects like Arak, Damage Control, AmethystBattleStar Galactica and Medusa Chain!
As a result, Farrar, Straus and Giroux's 9/11 Report (2006) stands as a high-water mark for a graphic novel based on history!
