Reading Room WEIRD WORLDS "Green Horror"

We presented the 1950s version of this tale HERE...
...now here's the redrawn 1970s version with the script taken almost verbatim from the original!
"They went beyond the stars only to find terror that could destroy everything"
That was the contents page description from Eerie Publications' Weird Worlds V1N10 (1970) for this reworking by artist Walter Casadei of "Planet Eaters" from Key's Weird Mysteries #1 (1952).
Casadei started his career as a humor and "good girl" artist.
But when he proved he could handle any genre, Walter's assignments became predominantly a horror/sci-fi illustrator!

Friday Fun ZANY "Li'l Abnrr"

Unseen since 1959, a look at how comics...
...and by extension, media in general, change to reflect pop culture trends!
Comics, in particular, jump on the latest fad, sometimes revamping the book or strip almost beyond recognition!
The classic example was the mid-1960s "New Blackhawk era", when the middle-aged WWII veteran flyers, published continuously since 1942, became superhero/spies...because the two hottest pop culture trendsetters at the time were Batman and Bond!
(Think I'm joking?
You can read the transition story beginning HERE!)
BTW, both the artist who did a dead-on imitation of Al Capp's style and the scripter for this never-reprinted Li'L Abner spoof from Candar's Zany #4 (1959) are unknown!

Reading Room WEIRD MYSTERIES "Planet Eaters"

Perhaps those who don't believe in saving the ecosphere read this story as kids...
...or maybe they're just idiots!
Either way, it's a kool story!
While the writer for this never-reprinted tale from Key's Weird Mysteries #1 (1952) is unknown, the artist has been identified as Frank Frollo.
This story, like numerous others from smaller comics publishers, was redrawn in an Eerie Publications b/w title, using the same script with a couple of minor revisions and retitled "Green Horror".
You''' see it on Saturday!

We Have Already Seen...
...the alien Hkkkt have boxed-in the remaining crew of the Seeker and are about to subject them to the proverbial "fate worse than death"...

Is the space-spanning saga of Seeker 3000 and its' crew ended?
Will there be more stories told?
Since this never-reprinted story from Marvel's Seeker 3000 #4 (1998) was published, we haven't seen or heard a thing...not even a reprint!

Reading Room SPACE WAR "Exiled to Earth"

Usually, characters in sci-fi stories are exiled from Earth...
...but, then, those characters usually aren't Venusians!
While the writer for this story from Charlton's Space War #5 (1960) is believed to be Joe Gill, the illustrator is clearly Steve Ditko, at one of the artistic high-points in his career as he bounced between freelance assignments for Charlton and Atlas/Marvel, enjoying the diversity of work in various genres.
