Reading Room UNKNOWN WORLDS OF SCIENCE FICTION "Visitation"

A witch hunt with a sci-fi twist?
This never-reprinted story from Marvel's Unknown Worlds of Science Fiction #6 (1975) tells the tale!
Ruben Yandoc was one of the first wave of Phillipino artists to work on American comics.
From 1971 to 1987, his art appeared in horror, sci-fi, and war comics from all the major publishers (DC, Marvel, Warren).

Monday Madness GET LOST! "Ace of Space: Four-Flush Gordon"

If you're a poker player, you'll get the reference in the name of the title character...
...if not, we'll explain it at the end of this classic tale!
Add caption
A four flush (also flush draw) is a poker hand that is one card short of being a full flush.
"Four flushing" refers to empty boasting or unsuccessful bluffing.
Written and illustrated by the team of Ross Andru and Mike Esposito for first issue of their short-lived 1954 humor title Get Lost, for their own short lived publishing house, MikeRoss Publishing,  this was their almost-mandatory Flash Gordon/Buck Rogers spoof all humor publishers in the 1950s did!

Haunted Halloween Goodies (G and PG-13)!

October is here, the leaves are turning orange and brown, and already our somewhat- warped thoughts naturally turn to...HALLOWEEN, the koolest holiday of all!
We at Atomic Kommie Comics™ have told you about our Horror Comics of the 1950s™ and Seduction of the Innocent™ sections, PLUS the Martians, Martians, Martians™ category of The Future WAS Fantastic™, all of which have kool retro horror-oriented goodies year-round for the older kids-at-heart.
But what about something for the younger crowd, the tweens and pre-teens, the toddlers and babies?
Well, never let it be said we ignored a target demographic!
We have a Haunted Halloween section specifically-for those little ones who want a slightly-scary take on the spectral and spooky, as well as for the 7-13 category who want a bit more meat on the bone (as it were).
We're also offering Yard Signs & Banners, plus; invitation and greeting cards, ghostly garb, and ghoulish goodies like monstrous mini-buttons (great as treats instead of tooth-rotting candy), reusable trick or treat bags, and other creepy collectibles.
Note to the older crowd, sorry, but the shirts 'n stuff are kid-sized only.
Have a look and order now, if you want your treats!
Wait too long and you'll be tricked!

Friday Fun REX DEXTER OF MARS "Among the Stars!"

This is a fitting episode in several ways...
...as Rex Dexter of Mars becomes immortal (metaphorically-speaking)!
Rex Dexter didn't return!
This tale in Fox's Mystery Men Comics #24 (1941) was his last Golden Age appearance, and makes a very appropriate (though unintentional) finale to the series!
Rex would return in Image's Savage Dragon as a supporting character in the early 2000s and still appears from time to time.
Note: for all those who think the Clash of the Titans movies are an accurate version of ancient Greek myths, Rex Dexter gets it right!
Perseus fought Cetus, not the Kraken to save Andromeda!
However, original CotT screenwriter Beverly Cross decided to go with the more dramatic "Kraken"!
And, let's face it, don't the two Zeus (Zeuses?), Laurence Olivier and Liam Neeson, sound kool rumbling "RELEASE THE KRAKEN!" instead of "RELEASE CETUS!"?
Though this was the final Rex Dexter story published in Mystery Men Comics, it's not the end of Rex at Friday Fun!
Next week, we begin a two-part presentation of Rex's revised origin (it ain't a modern phenomenon, guys), told as the opening tale of Fox's Rex Dexter one-shot in 1940!
Then, the Friday before Halloween, we present a Rex Dexter story we "skipped" so it could be run around All Hallow's Eve since it involves space zombies!
