Reading Room CAPTAIN SCIENCE "Spawn of Pathor"

It's been awhile since we last looked in on...
...as a new artist takes a crack at the character!
Artist Tex Blaisdell makes a valiant effort to match the Joe Orlando/Wally Wood art style from the previous few issues, but it comes up short in this never-reprinted story from Youthful's Captain Science #6 (1951).

Design of the Week Redux EASTER WITH MOTHER GOOSE!

Each week, we post a limited-edition design, to be sold for exactly 7 days, then replaced with another...unless it sells really well, like this one!
Then we "redux" it and extend it's run by a week!

Since Easter is coming, we thought we'd present an absolutely adorable piece from the 1940s by the legendary Walt (Pogo) Kelly featuring a puppy, kitten, and bunny with surprised looks on their faces as the egg they're painting hatches, producing yet another cute animal...a chick!

You just don't see stuff like this anymore!
So, why not order some kidswear or basket stuffers with this one-week-only graphic?
Everyone who sees it will go "Awwww."

Here's a classic fairy tale...
...adapted with style for the Easter season by Walt (Pogo) Kelly!
A never-reprinted tale from Dell's Four Color Comics: Easter with Mother Goose #140 (1947) closes out our Walt Kelly Easter Festival for this year.
Next week; one of the numerous comic book adaptations of the historical Easter.

Don Rickles (1926-2017)

While my fellow comics fans remember his "star turn" in Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen...
...many don't realize he did an occasional appearance in genre TV!
Rickles' good friend Don Adams put him in Get Smart as Sid Krimm, an old army pal of Maxwell Smart's who ends up being pulled into the world of spies in the two-parter "Little Black Book".
Bonus: the original art by Jack Kirby and Vince Colletta for page 16 above!
Note how much detail was muddied in the printing process!
