Reading Room: ATTACK ON PLANET MARS "Tarrano Strikes"

In the 1950s Avon did a number of one-shot comic books...
...based on sci-fi novels.
While most were of tales recently-reprinted by their paperback division,  this one was not.
Does a Fate Worse than Death Await Elza?
And...What is Tarrano's Plan?
Based on the novel Tarrano the Conqueror by Ray Cummings, this chapter of the 1951 comic adaptation was penciled by Carmine Infantino and inked by Joe Kubert, the team who would illustrate the first Silver Age Flash story in DC's Showcase #4 several years later!
The writer of the adaptation is unknown.

Defeat of the Lone Ranger

The Lone Ranger has met the one enemy he couldn't conquer..
The box office.
His new (and somewhat controversial) movie has bombed...badly.
To be fair, it did do better than John Carter...which didn't have any "marquee name" performers like Johnny Depp.
Despite this, our brother blog, Western Comics Adventures™ will continue entries all this month about the most famous Western duo in fiction (whom we've covered a number of times previously).
This Monday, you'll see a classic retelling of the team's origin.
Who knows, we may pull in more eyeballs than saw the movie...

San Diego "Tales from ComicCon" Shirts & Stuff!

On July 24th, 2010, at the San Diego ComicCon, reality became far more frightening than any horror comic book!
Thankfully, the victim survived, and  a suspect was quickly taken into custody.

Sadly, nerd-on-nerd crime is becoming a more common problem in our society than most people realize!
It is THE Threat to Our Way of Life that Dare Not Speak It's Name...mostly because people would roll on the floor laughing hysterically.

But this is NO laughing matter, citizens!
To draw attention to this growing menace to our way of life, we at Atomic Kommie Comics™ have produced this line of kool kollectibles for you to display at conventions so that this incident is not quickly forgotten by a jaded populace eager for the next cheap thrill!
We were warned!
We didn't listen!
We paid the price!
Remind everyone!
DR WERTHAM WAS RIGHT!
