Cover Gallery: DRACULA CHRONICLES
When Marvel reintroduced Dracula as a major character in the mid 1990s...
...Topps took one last shot at the character, reprinting their poor-selling 1992 Vlad the Impaler mini-series (which we've been re-presenting on this blog for the past couple of weeks) as Dracula Chronicles with new covers by Joseph Linsner.
It didn't sell any better, and with the phenomenal success of X-Files, Dracula was dropped from Topps' roster.
BTW, for other comic book versions of the legendary vampire, check out...

Jackie Robinson 1950s Comic Book Covers
With the new flick, 42, opening next week...
...let's look at the superb covers for the short-lived (and never reprinted) groundbreaking comic book series from Fawcett Comics that ran from 1950 to 1952, now being offered as posters and prints, digitally-remastered and restored from the actual covers, by a good friend of ours!
Collect all six for a kool wall display!
They'll also be doing reproductions of the poster and lobby cards for the first Jackie Robinson movie The Jackie Robinson Story (1950), starring the man as himself (in his only movie appearance) along with Ruby Dee as Rachel "Rae" Robinson, and Minor Watson as Branch Rickey.
Here's the complete movie...
In the new movie, Chadwick Boseman is Jackie Robinson, Nicole Beharie is Rachel Robinson, and Harrison Ford is Branch Rickey.

Noted Fantasy Artist Bob Larkin Needs Our Help!
The perils of being a freelance artist are numerous...including not having medical insurance!
Bob Larkin, who’s done hundreds of paintings for Marvel, DC, Fleer and numerous others, is in desperate need of help.
Bob’s wife, Fran, has been battling various forms of cancer for the past 12 years and the endless medical bills have put an incredible financial strain on the family.
Fran is currently recovering from her latest surgery and Bob has become her caregiver 24/7 leaving him unable to take on new work.
To help pay the bills Fantom Press is offering numerous items for sale...including a new sketchbook (see cover above) of Larkin's art featuring never-seen roughs, prelims, and sketches!
The books are square bound, 8 ½ x 11″ 48 black and white pages and each one is individually signed and numbered by Bob. The paperback edition is $20.00 and there are two deluxe hard cover editions available that are in short supply. 100% of the sales from this book, as well as anything else that might interest you on site are going directly to the Larkins.
So, if you can, pick up a kool collectible and help one of our own in the process!
Talk about a win-win proposition!

Nice to see the comic also utilizing a rather obvious connection between Ming and the Nazis.

Vampires! Vampires! Vampires!
Due to popular demand, we're expanding our Horror Comics of the 1950s™ department to include entire new sections devoted to specific types of monsters!
Before the 2000s , that trembling was from fear, with the primary example being Dracula, portrayed by everyone from Bela Lugosi to Christopher Lee to Louis Jourdan to Gary Oldman.
But, today, that trembling is more often from pleasure, as studly and sexy bloodsuckers reign on movies and TV in True Blood, Vampire Diaries, and the Twilight series!
For those who prefer sanguinarians who don't sparkle in the sunlight, or Team Jacob fans who want to rib their Team Edward counterparts with gag gifts, we've resurrected the classic image of the fanged fiends on a line of collectibles including mugs, magnets, t-shirts, iPad/Kindle/messenger bags and other undead tchochkies!
(And, yes, a WEREWOLVES collection is coming shortly!)
