Trump Reading Room HILLBILLY COMICS "MacSleezys: New York AND Bust"

...heck, I'll let the writer present a synopsis of the tale for me...
Written and illustrated by Art Gates, this tale from Charlton's Hillbilly Comics #2 (1955) was part of a brief trend in comic books during the Li'l Abner series' greatest popularity in the mid-1950s!

Trump Reading Room aka the Outhouse FARMERS DAUGHTER "Gig McCoy: Around the Cracker Barrel 2"

...with a story about another businessman who specializes in tall tales!
This never-reprinted story from Stanhall's Farmer's Daughter #2 (1954) was typical of the sort of lowbrow humor the publisher specialized in.
With titles including Broadway-Hollywood Blackouts and G.I. Jane, Stanhall produced adult-oriented (but never more risque than PG-13) humor.
Animator Hal Seegar was the editor/writer/illustrator for the non "good girl" strips like this one, while Bill Williams handled the art for the more risque material (like the title feature) which Seegar wrote and edited.

Trump Reading Room HILLBILLY COMICS "MacSleezys (Don't Trust Them)"

Let's look in on Don the Con's "Deplorables"...
...with a typical rural family of typical intelligence and morals!
Written and illustrated by Art Gates, this tale from Charlton's Hillbilly Comics #1 (1955) was part of a brief trend in comic books during the Li'l Abner series' greatest popularity in the mid-1950s!

Trump Reading Room HILLBILLY COMICS "Inquiring Artist" & "Meeting of the Staff of Hillbilly Comics!"

Let's look at two short features starring Don (the Con) Trump's "deplorables"...
These never-reprinted strips from Charlton's Hillbilly Comics #1 (1955) seem to mirror the mind-set of those whom Don (the Con) Trump lovingly-referred to as "poorly-educated".
Writer /artist Art Gates never imagined his work from over a half-century ago would be relevant decades later!

Trump Reading Room LOUIE LAZYBONES "Everything's Vine!"

Let's look in on the adventures of Don (the Con) Trump's "deplorables"...
...and see what America might look like under their control...
Created in 1943, Looie Lazybones floated around the Nedor Comics line as a "filler" strip until settling down in Thrilling Comics as of #56 (1946).
Young up-and-comer Frank Frazetta took over the art a couple of issues before this never-reprinted tale in #68 (1948) bringing it amazingly-close in visual style to the strip's "inspiration", Al Capp's Li'l Abner, which had already become a media sensation, with a radio show, feature film and tons of merchandising!
So close, in fact, that Capp hired Frazetta to "ghost" Li'l Abner in 1954!
BTW, the writer is unknown.

Our story opens as we gaze upon a life-size statue of one of Don the Con's "deplorables"...
...as rendered by the legendary Frank Frazetta!

Trump Reading Room aka the OutHouse FARMER'S DAUGHTER "Calendar Girl"

With Don the Con's "model" wife Melania dominating the headlines...
..we thought we'd take a look at another blonde poser who would appeal to the RNC crowd!
