Monday Madness BEDLAM "Earth Invasion"

Trumpanzees and other conspiracists should read this kick-butt piece...
...and then we'll witness if they feel like going out and shooting someone!

Well?
Ready to grab those AR-15s and slaughter the local populace?
Why not, kids?
Wackadoodles have used the "pop culture" causes violence trope for over a half century, from the "comics cause teen crime" insanity of the 1950s to the "violent videos" of the 80s and 90s, to the video games of today.
Think About This: If violent video games (supposedly) cause people to become insane killers, why do countries like Japan, with far more violent video game content, have far less crime (including shootings) than America?

Reading Room ALIEN ENCOUNTERS "Invasion!"

Hostile, technologically-advanced aliens are coming our way!
Can we defeat them in only two pages?
The "menacing aliens are no threat because they're too small" trope is an old one, going back to golden-age comics.
My personal favorite, because of its' simple, effective storytelling by one of my all-time favorites, can be found HERE!
This never-reprinted Tim Truman written/illustrated "sci-fi Western" tale is from Eclipse's Alien Encounters #4 (1986).
There's a wealth of material from 1980s anthologies that has not seen the light of day since publication, and we will dip into this treasure trove of material as we find/acquire them!
BTW, "Fer SRB" on page 1 refers to fellow writer/artist Stephen R Bissette, presumably because the aliens resemble his creature designs.

Reading Room STAR☀︎REACH CLASSICS "Origin of God!"

The writer-artist who created Thanos and re-defined "cosmic" presents...
...a simple, but effective visualization by Jim Starlin as shown in Eclipse's Star*Reach Classics #1 (1984).
The observant among you noted the copyright next to the title reads "1974", not "1984"!
That's because this one-pager first appeared in Star*Reach #4 (1974)...but it was in black and white!
I thought, for on-line re-presentation, the color version would be more effective!

Reading Room ALIEN WORLDS "The Reading"

Oddly, one of the major innovators of the 1970s-80s is all but forgotten today...
...but this never-reprinted tale from Eclipse's Alien Worlds #9 (1985) should remind you of his amazing talent!

Kool, eh?
Brunner's work in comics spanned a little over a decade, but it was a memorable decade, indeed!

Like other underpaid and underappreciated creatives such as Jack Kirby, Alex Toth, and Mike Sekowsky, Brunner left comics and went to Hollywood, where his vision and talents were much better recompensed working on both live-action and animated projects.
Today he's retired, doing the occasional commission piece and hitting the convention circuit.

Reading Room ALIEN WORLDS "...and Miles to Go Before I Sleep"

Sometimes it takes a couple of old pros to give you a new perspective...

...on a matter that will affect us all...eventually!

Some say it's an ironic story.
I prefer to think of it as a tale of love between parents and their child taken to the nth degree...even beyond death itself!
Adapted from his own short story by noted sci-fi author Willlam F Nolan, and illustrated by Al Williamson, this never-reprinted piece from Eclipse's Alien Worlds #8 (1984) is a gentle tale that would have made a helluva episode of the classic Twilight Zone!

Friday Fun ALIEN ENCOUNTERS "Now Jr Behave Yourself"

It's the 19th Anniversary of the terrorist attack on 9/11...
...and we think that, with all the problems in the world, we need a laugh!
Kids (even alien ones) will be annoying little shits, as this never-reprinted tale from Eclipse's Alien Encounters #4 (1985) proves!
Though best-known for his adaptations of Clive Barker's work to comics, Chuck Wagner could display a, well, nasty sense of humor.
Illustrator Bill Wray's Wally Wood-esque inking made him an in-demand inker, and his pencils were top-notch as well!
But his inking (and coloring) speed was much faster, so he concentrated his efforts on those skills to pay the bills.

Reading Room LARS OF MARS 3-D "When Terrorists Die..."

Get out the 3-D glasses, kiddies...
...as we present the final, never-reprinted Lars of Mars tale...from 1987???
Eclipse Comics and 3-D expert Ray Zone were using a number of old comic strips as the basis for a series of 3-D comics.
But this was an entirely-new tale created specifically for Eclipse's Lars of Mars 3-D #1 (1987), as detailed below...
The rest of the book were reprints of "EarthShaker" and "Terror Weapon" modified to 3-D.

Trump Reading Room BEDLAM "Earth Invasion"

Trumpanzees should read this kick-butt piece...
...and then we'll witness if they feel like going out and shooting someone, like their fellow Trumpanzee did in El Paso!
