Space Hero Saturdays BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25th CENTURY "Adventure of the Flying Discs!"

Yes, the 20th Century Guy Who Survived to the 25th Century returns to the 20th Century...
...(1950, to be exact) to take on Commies of various ethnicities, explains what flying saucers arnd and who's piloting them (It ain't little green men)!
Cover by Murphy Anderson and an unknown inker
This never-reprinted tale illustrated by Ray Chatton, from Toby Press' Buck Rogers in the 25th Century #100 (1950) was done specifically for the comic, unlike Buck's previous comic book appearances, which were newspaper strip reprints.
(BTW, though the book is "#100", it's actually the first issue from this publisher!)
"Korosa" is, obviously, Korea, where the Korean War broke out on June 25, 1950.
It's interesting to note that, in the 25th Century, peace reigns on Earth and there are rocket bases and other international facilities in Korosa/Korea!
Plus, the unknown writer apparently wasn't exactly conversant in the concept of time travel...which, even at this stage in science fiction literature, pretty much stated that interference in the "past" usually-resulted in catastrophic rewriting of history in the "future/present" as shown in stories like "A Sound of Thunder" by Ray Bradbury!

Trump Reading Room UNITED STATES MARINES "The Secret of Korea"

What influenced Don the John's concept of Korea?
Perhaps this 1952 NSFW (due to racist stereotypes) comic story...
...remember Don the John boasts of his intellectual development stopping at age 9!
Since Don the Con has never been much on reading, odds are the semi-literate future PotUS learned a lot from comics, as we theorized regarding his obsession with a "Space Force"!
Ironically, this tale from Magazine Enterprises' United States Marines #5 (1952) is a reworked version of an equally-NSFW anti-Japanese propaganda piece that appeared in Magazine Enterprises' United States Marines #3 (1943)...
The more things change, the more they stay the same, eh?
BTW, while I'm pleased Don the John apparently secured the release of American citizens held by North Korea, did any one else think it odd that two of the three freed American citizens needed a translator to understand and respond to Don the John?

Is THIS Our Future???

With North Korea threatening us with nuclear weapons (again)...
...maybe we should look at how it was during the Cold War by looking at what they thought (in the 1950s) would happen in the near-future (the 1960s onward)!
Turns out it wasn't so great, as you'll see when you click on the links to our "brother" RetroBlog War: Past, Present & Future...and read about...
and
...which were two different series with two different plotlines and histories taking place at the same time in the near future...from the same publisher!

Steve Savage: Battling North Korean Commies over 60 years later!

One of the benefits of running Atomic Kommie Comics™ is being able to do customized presents for birthdays, holidays, and joyous events like bridal and baby showers (and, at cost, yet)...
I was preparing items for one such baby shower whose invite had...unusual...suggestions for nursery decor gifts; aircraft, specifically fighter aircraft!
(The baby will be a boy, and his dad is in the Air National Guard!)
"No problem", we thought!
After all, Atomic Kommie Comics™ has a whole section on War: Past, Present, & Future™!
So, we planned several customized items, including a bib, newborn onesie, wall clock, and 12-month wall calendar, all with the required fighter theme!
However, a quick glance revealed a minor problem; while we had over a dozen covers with military aircraft, we had only nine with fighters! The others were bombers!
We needed twelve for the calendar!
A quick look thru the extensive Atomic Kommie Comics™ archives showed a whole set of classic comics we hadn't yet touched...Captain Steve Savage and his Jet Fighters!
BINGO!
We selected the three best covers and loaded them up to the calendar template to give us an even dozen images!
Problem solved!

After doing the baby's calendar, we decided to add all three Captain Steve Savage covers to our Korean Police Action kool kollectibles collection for the perusal (and purchase) of all you veterans, relatives of vets, and / or war comics fans!
With North Korea still rattling sabers at the rest of the world (at least when the Mid-East isn't exploding into the headlines), it seemed like the right time (just before the 4th of July!) to return Steve Savage to duty!

Get Steve Savage in your sights, before he gets his sights on you!

Design of the Week--The War that Will NEVER Happen...

Each week, we post a limited-edition design, to be sold for exactly 7 days, then replaced with another!
This week...
You can look good while you duck-and-cover with our kool, retro (but not radiation-proof) World War III kollectibles showing a possible future nuking of the Capital building in Washington DC by an unnamed foreign power!
This 1950s one-shot comic detailed the possible events leading up to the Final War and how, thru constant vigilance against the Commie Threat, we average American citizens can thwart it!

Then, it was the U.S.S.R., since North Korea had no nuclear weapons.
Today, the U.S.S.R. is gone, replaced by the less-dangerous Russia.
However, a Communist nuclear threat remains...but now it's North Korea!
The more things change, the more they stay the same (sort of).

Design of the Week--"Threaten Americans? DON'T!"

We've decided to introduce a new feature to our line of collectibles...Design of the Week!
Each Thursday, we'll post a design, to be sold for exactly 7 days, then replaced with another!
This week...
Somali pirates?
North Korean dictators?
Iranian mullahs?
Mess with America, will ya?
We are slow to anger, but once aroused, we are unstoppable!
Threaten one of us, and you threaten ALL of us!
Show that, despite our differences, Americans stand united against any external threats!
