Space Hero Saturdays SPACEHAWK "Scraches of Doom" & "Moon Justice"

Our final Spacehawk post for the foreseeable future involves two text stories written and illustrated by Basil Wolverton!
You may remember there was a previous two-parter that he neither scripted nor rendered!
Whether he was unhappy with the result, or was simply irritated that the publisher let someone else handle the character, he produced these two rarely-seen tales...
...from Target Comics #10 (above) and Target Comics #15 (below)
And so ends SpaceHawk's adventures as a Saturday Space Hero!
Be here next Saturday as another character gets his (or her) chance to be a Space Hero!

Friday Fun / CoronaVirus Comics CRAZY "Flu Strains from DIfferent Countries"

You thought that, during the 1970s, we were becoming more sensitive to ethnic humor?
You obviously weren't around then, bunkie!
While TV series like All in the Family and films like Kentucky Fried Movie were cleverly skewering racial stereotypes, some pop culture contributors were still indulging in them, as this (not surprisingly) never-reprinted feature from Marvel's Crazy Magazine #43 (1978) proves!
I don't know what writer Fred Wolfe and artist John Langton were thinking when they created this, but the fact that editor Paul Laikin let it see print doesn't speak well for any of their sensibilities!

Tales Twice Told STRANGE GALAXY "Planetoid Monsters"

...which predated Chariots of the Gods by a couple of decades.
Today, we present a re-visualization of the exact same script from the 1970s!
Illustrated by Oscar Stepancich, this story from Eerie Publications' Strange Galaxy #10 (1971) is an almost word-for-word retelling of "Space-Gods of Planetoid 50!" from Avon's Strange Worlds #7 (1952)!
Eerie both reprinted 1940s-50s material from defunct publishers like Avon and Gilmor, and did new versions by South American artists when the originals weren't "graphic" enough!
B/w magazines didn't follow the still-restrictive Comics Code Authority, so they could do more risque material (blood/violence/mild nudity) than color comics!

Tales Twice Told STRANGE WORLDS "Space-Gods of Planetoid 50!"

What if Chariots of the Gods? took place on another planet?
And Earthmen were the aliens thought to be "gods"?
This look at the future from Avon's Strange Worlds #7 (1952) was illustrated by artistic mainstay Gene Fawcette, but the writer is unknown.
As you might have guessed from our sub-head, the tale was retold...with the same dialogue and captions...but totally-new artwork...in 1971!
Be here Thursday for that story!

From Choices, a benefit comic produced in 1989, after the Webster V Reproductive Health Services verdict...

...when we thought that was the worst that could happen to America's women!

"Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it!"

Written and illustrated by William Messner-Loebs, a multi-award-winning writer/artist who would do an acclaimed run on DC's Wonder Woman a couple of years after this.
