This tale from Ziff-Davis' Weird Thrillers #2 (1951) was illustrated by Henry Sharp, who worked for Ziff-Davis  St John (who hired a lot of Ziff-Davis' writers and artists when Z-D went under) and DC Comics from 1951 to 1957.
The writer is unknown.

This week's Valentine's Day-oriented entry is a weird combo of sci-fi and humor...

...which was probably written by the man who created the Clark Kent/Superman/Lois Lane love/hate triangle...

This cover story from Ziff-Davis' Amazing Adventures #4 (1951) was illustrated by Henry Sharp who, during his decade in comics, illustrated only sci-fi or war stories!

Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel was the editor of the Ziff-Davis comics line, and wrote many of the stories that appeared in it, so it's not unreasonable to assume this tale, which contains many plot aspects common to those tales of Superman and Lois Lane, was scripted by the same writer!

Before Trump's Space Force... PERIMETER PATROL SERVICE "City of Light"

 Much of early pulp/comic sci-fi utilized military or police organizations in their stories...

...including this tale from Ziff-Davis' Amazing Adventures #6 (1952) which featured members of the "Perimeter Patrol Service" in their second (and last) appearance!

Perhaps Don da Con was remembering a tale like this one when he "brainstormed" Space Force!

Though the writer is unknown, the art is attributed to Henry Sharp, who moved to comics from pulp magazines in 1951 and from comics to television in 1955.

You'll see the Perimeter Patrol Service's second appearance next Tuesday!

Reading Room CRUSADER FROM MARS "Death in the Soil"

We've presented almost all the tales of the short-lived Crusader from Mars...

...and now, at long last, here's the only one we haven't run!

Illustrated by Henry Sharp, and probably written by editor Jerry (Superman) Siegel, the second story from Ziff-Davis' Crusader from Mars #1 (1952) continues the theme that the major example of "Evil on Earth" Tarka and Zira must battle is Communism!
Though the adventures of the earlier Ziff-Davis Martian, Lars of Mars, have been reprinted several times (including a 3-D adaptation), the saga of the Crusader from Mars has been kept from the eyes of a sci fi-loving audience for over 60 years!
We've corrected that oversight with a complete re-presentation of his too-brief stay on Earth...
