Friday Fun REX DEXTER OF MARS "Who He Is and How He Came to Be" Conclusion

...he was experiencing his revised origin (as compared to his origin as shown in his premiere appearance HERE!)
So far, we've witnessed Rex's great-grandfather Montague leaving Earth in 1939, Rex's childhood after being born on Mars, and his romance as a young man with Cynde, also a descendent of the group who traveled from Earth with Montague Dexter in 1939!
Many of the plot elements from the original origin were altered in this new version which led off Fox's Rex Dexter #1 (1940), which was hoped to be a new, ongoing title, spun-off from Mystery Men Comics!
However. sales weren't strong enough to warrant continuing the separate title, and Rex remained in Mystery Men Comics until the end of its' run!
Next week: Our final Rex Dexter story, featuring space zombies!

Reading Room CRUSADER FROM MARS COMICS "Tower of Jacob Dis"

What if someone discovered the Ultimate Power?
Would he use it for good...or evil?
This tale, unseen for over 65 years, holds one possible answer!
Underrated artist George Roussos and an unknown writer told this story which appeared as filler in the back of Ziff-Davis' Crusader from Mars #1 (1952).
If this tale was created today, Jacob would be seen as almost idiotically-idealistic, and his wife as a pragmatic realist.
Sad, isn't it!

Wednesday Worlds of Wonder ZANGAR

One of the few (if not the only) red-headed jungle heroes...
...Zangar swung through all three issues of Skywald's short-lived Jungle Adventures, fronting reprints of everything from Jo-Jo to Sheena!
You have to wonder what was going through writer Gardner Fox and penciler Jack Katz's minds when they created this feature!
Is Zangar just Bob Gordon with an untreated concussion?
Or did he, almost mystically, bond with the jungle-dwelling animals?
This never-reprinted Bronze Age tale, inked by John Tartaglione and Bill Everett, leaves it somewhat nebulous...
Be Here Next Week as We Continue Zangar's High Adventures!
