Friday Fun FRANKENSTEIN "How I Had (and Lost) a Pet Dinosaur!"

Bet You Didn't Believe We Could Combine Dinosaurs  with the Frankenstein Monster!

(You Apparently Don't Know Us As Well as You Thought!)
Written and illustrated by Dick Briefer, this tale from Prize's Frankenstein #5 (1946) was the second (of three) versions of the Monster that Briefer conceived and produced!
The first, appearing in the anthology Prize Comics, was a serious sequel to Mary Shelley's novel, set in the present, resulting in the Monster encountering Nazis and being captured by comics' first official super-hero team, The Prize Fighters (as shown HERE)!
The second version was a humorous revamp (from which this story was taken) that would've been right at home as episodes of The Munsters TV series, and included Frankie meeting...Boris You-know-who...as seen HERE, and even getting married...as seen HERE!
It ran for 12 issues, and ended in 1948.
But the popularity of horror comics in the early 1950s resulted in a third, grisly, incarnation in 1952, also by the amazingly-versatile Briefer...who went all-out ghoulish for this final run of 21 issues before the whole "Seduction of the Innocent" mishigas shut down all color horror comics and almost destroyed the comics industry in 1954!
We ran a blogathon several years ago at Horror Comics of the 1950s presenting the entire run, which you can link to by clicking HERE!
Yeah, it's a lot, but if you want Frankenstein for Halloween, we're your one-stop reading destination!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN
